Mastodon compatible #polls in #WordPress? Coming soon :)
This is a feature I was looking for myself and due to the amazing work of @pfefferle on the #ActivityPub plugin things like this are now possible to realize pretty straight forward. The hardest part for me is getting UI right.
This was a little side project, and I was challenging myself how fast I could get a prototype to work. But #Gutenberg and #React is something you do not get used to in an hour. I'll try to release the source soon.
Edit: expect the source in January 2025, I will not find time to polish it before then.
It is striking how much this quote from Automattic’s head hews so closely to Automattic’s decision to force #Gutenberg into #WordPress, without much consideration for #accessibility (for authors nor users) and with its corporate OSS contributions primarily around pushing the feature and failing to clean-up its own bugs & barriers.

I'm mostly putting this here to archive these into davidbisset.social.
But I've appreciated the block editor more as (in some cases forced) I've worked with it.
Most of the feedback i've gotten is how things were handled/communicated (some of which were reasonable items). But WP wouldn't be still in the running today if it wasn't for Gutenberg, that's the reality. #WordPress
Rainy day here, so I took myself to the Gutenberg museum (the press was invented here in Mainz!). As a lifelong book lover, seeing the press in action (they do a demonstration) was really great. The machine that changed the world, and heralded the start of modernity.
The museum itself has an amazing collection of manuscripts, books, and printing paraphernalia.
A great post from Brian Coords. Be sure to read it. And indeed: The navigation block should have been improved a long, long time ago. Try creating a submenu. Horrible. But despite everything: in my opinion block themes are basically a great thing. But things have to be completed before new things are created
